FDA warns 14 US Based companies for promoting illegal cancer treatments

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued warning letter consign to 14 US based companies like Biostar Technology International, AIE pharmaceutical,illegally selling and marketing more than 65 products that assertion to cure cancer  and cancer related alignments. These products are marketed and sold without getting approval from FDA- Principle authority for testing and approving various medicines.

Mr. Douglas W Stearns, Director of the office of enforcement and import operations in the Office of FDA’s office of regulatory affairs said in press release that ,“Consumer should not use these or similar unproven products because they may be unsafe and could prevent a person from seeking an appropriate and potentially life-saving cancer diagnosis or treatment”.

The illegally marketed and sold products included diagnostic pills, pills ,topical cream and ointment, oils, syrups to name a few. FDA said the products like Protandim NRF2 Synergizer are being marketed and sold without the formal approval and consent of FDA.

Most commonly sold through websites and social media platforms, these products are being marketed with “click ads, videos, and use of other refined marketing platforms. As a part of FDA efforts tom protect consumers and prevent frauds, FDA has issued more than 90 Warning letters including Online warning letters to various companies who are involved in marketing and selling of illegal cancer drugs. Although many companies have stopped marketing their products, numerous unsafe and unapproved products continue to be sold through online portals. Another measure taken by FDA to reduce such instances by ordering Healthcare professionals and consumers to report adverse reactions associated with such products.  Products labeled “Natural” or “Dietary Supplement”, such products may appear harmless but they may cause harm by interfering in proven beneficial treatments”.

FDA has requested responses from 14 companies explaining how these violations can be corrected. Failure to do so may result in Legal action including product breakdown or criminal prosecution.
